What I've been doing

26th December 2009 (Saturday)

Seapark

In my opinion, the best curry laksa ever :)

27th December 2009 (Sunday)

Desa Park City

The Ultimate, HQ's fav drink

28th December 2009 (Monday)

Le Meridien
Free lunch buffet! Hehe.
Was gonna go for the buffet dinner there but mom gave me a voucher for free lunch soo might as well use it :)

Hainanese chicken rice was terrible
Garlic fried rice, not too bad, but it didn't have crispy garlic flakes like how it's supposed to
Otak-otak and other stuff HQ took were not nice either

Pasta turned out to be better than I expected, but still ok-ok only. Can't beat Dave's Carbonara.
Indian food (tandoori, curry chicken, fish etc) was okay only. Nothing to shout about.
Laksa was terrible -_-
See HQ's face expression also know already
Don't eat raw food, so didn't try the oysters.
HQ tried though, didn't comment on them
ALWAYS wanted to try the white chocolate fountain, but never had the chance to
They used to have dark choc fountain too.. dunno why they took it away :(
I super loved the white choc!! But the variety of fruits were limited (only dates, rockmelon and honeydew) which don't even really go together with chocolate.
Stupid stingy restaurant don't provide strawberries and bananas.
HQ said the sushi wasn't fresh (I don't eat raw food).
Waffle was terrible.
Quite like the bread (I'm a sucker for good bread)
1 of the worst macha ice-creams I've ever tasted in my life.
Tasted more like vanilla, there was no green tea taste at all.

The best food there was probably the Teppanyaki, the prawns were fresh but they ran out of them very quickly. Teppan chicken was quite good but a little too salty.
The Malay kuih were OK la, outside ones are better.

Overall experience: Average, probably better than most of the other buffets.

29th December 2009 (Tuesday)
Slept at 2am, woke up at 5am to go Bangkok!!!!!!!!
Overall, great trip with great company. Could've been better if the other 2 from Friday Gang came :(

Boarding the plane!

Have very few pics in my hp, and these are the ones that I'm only going to post, unless I have ample time later on to post the pics taken with HQ's camera.

Bangkok
Took an airport taxi to our hotel, which costed us 600Baht, bloody expensive!
Can't believe they conned our money -_-

Merisess Sukhumvit 16
Small, but quite good.
Services by the staff and manager Mr Philip were splendid.

Look, they even have a plasma tv!

Mambo Cabaret

The taxi effing conned our money, charging us a flat rate to go to this place for 200 Baht (RM20) initially.
Then on the way there, he asked whether we've been to a 'ping-pong/tiger/fucking' show.
We thought we heard the last word wrongly, but we didn't.
Us being innocent little children, we really thought that'd be a real tiger there.
He kept on convincing us to go, saying that we haven't been to Bangkok if we haven't watched these 3 shows.
And it was only for 600 Baht, our ladyboy show costs 800 Baht.
Said that since it's nearer, our taxi fee will only be 150 Baht.

So what the heck, we asked him to bring us there.
Hesitated when we saw the area, and then got a little freaked out when we actually went in (after we enter the 1st door, there's another door inside).
Told the guy that we wanna see first before going in.
Didn't get to see much coz the bapa ayam blocked the entrance.

Decided not to go in, coz I've read reviews that these shows are demeaning/degrading towards women.
Somemore, why let the guys enjoy right. HAha.
Kiddin', not like they wanted to go in anyway.

Reached early, got our free drinks.

So many Chinese came out of the 1st session of the show.
And they paid 50Baht to take pics with the ladyboys.

Could still see quite clearly that they're actually men behind all that plastic surgery.

Some didn't even do any plastic surgery.
This fat guy was the funniest!

Highlight of the show: TH being pulled onto the stage and molested by the ladyboys.

Imitating the Pussycat Dolls.
"I want Nobody, nobody but YOU"
Been hearing this song by the Wondergirls soooooo often these days.
Even in clubs.

The cast.

Went back to Foodland Supermarket near our hotel to buy groceries for the next day's breakfast.

Sniff sniff.
Alcohol so cheap there but we didn't drink a drop :(

30th December 2009 (Wednesday)
A staff from the airport managed to persuade us to go on this half-day tour.
Supposedly there'd be "floating markets" and we'd be able to visit the Grand Palace. Which was what we wanted to do as sight-seeing in Bangkok.
Mana tau the floating market is just 1 boat selling handicraft.
'Fishing farm' where they breed fish, and the people are not allowed to catch any.
Snake farm costed 150Baht and was a waste of time.

Since this is a measure to promote Thailand, the tour costed only 500Baht for 4 people. (Approx RM12.50 each). When it supposedly would've costed us 40USD.
Then she told us that we'd be getting our own driver, whom we can ask to drop us off anywhere we want, such as the Grand Palace.

But nooooooooOoo, we didn't get our own driver, and we were scolded by the stupid tour guide for being 15 mins late.
She kept saying that if we didn't want to go on the trip, then we can go collect the refund from the airport. There are other hotels coming as well, and she's already late. Blablabla.

The old Bangkok

Couldn't understand a word he was saying.

After the boat tour, she made us go to 3 other tourist-y places. Yes, forced us.
Said that it's part of her job and stuff, coz she has to write a report later on.

More like she'll get commission if she brings us there.
There were only 4 of us left coz the other 2 tourists went off on their own.

Went back to the hotel after that coz I realised I left 2000 Baht in my pants pocket -_-
Luckily they haven't started cleaning the room. Then had our free brunch at the hotel.

Bought this near the train station outside our hotel. Pretty interesting. Tastes like Apom.

MBK

Yeah I know this date is special ;)
I can't believe everyone stood up straight and sang the national anthem.
By the time I took the picture they were starting to move again.

Went to try out this restaurant. HQ's family friend ordered for us through the phone.
Quite nice, and reasonable price. But 6 dishes for the 4 of us is TOO much!

Snow beer
But we managed to finish the food anyway :)

Suan Lum Night Bazaar

Mango sticky rice
The mango should've been cold, then it'd be nicer. And the rice was practically drowned with coconut milk. Ugh.

After that went to PatPong

Women strip clubs
Gay bars
I wanted to go into that area to look see, but they told me cannot :(
Strictly for men.

So creepy, they all just attack you and ask you to come in, no entrance fee needed.
But the tour guide said once we go in, we'd have to pay for an expensive drink or they'd block the exit.
Plus she told us not to go, the shows are "no good".

31st December 2009 (Thursday)

Grand Palace

Central World Mall

Lunch at some seafood restaurant

Think 1 of the best Thai restaurants I've ever eaten.
Tomyum was good (I don't actually drink tomyum soup), and so were the other dishes.
Didn't really like the green curry fish though
4 dishes for 2 people omg, was so full after that.

Tried out the White Chocolate Cheesecake from Coffee Beans by Dao, since HQ's family friend told us it's a MUST-try.
Plus I super love white chocolate, and cheesecake.
Imagine my excitement when I heard that they have White Choc CHEESECAKE!
Loved the combination!!! Though I felt there could be more white choc taste, rather than so much of cream.
But somehow all the flavours mixed well! The cream, white choc, cheesecake and the base.
Absolutely lovely!!
Wanted to bring home for my family to try but impossible la :(
Also tried out the Choc cheesecake which was not good. But finished it coz both cakes costed 110Baht each. Bloody exp!!

Central World Mall

The tour guide told us that it's dangerous for us to go to these public places to celebrate New Year's.
And if we wanted to go, we should stay away from dustbins, telephone booths and the like.
Oh, and don't wear yellow/red (yellow- supports current PM, red- supports Thaksin).

Ooh young boys starting out at a young age.

SO crowded!

The fireworks there are like 5 times better than in M'sia.
But lasted only 5 minutes -_-

Sort of ran towards the BTS train station after that. Coz scared it'll be jam packed, with the amount of people there.

1st January 2010 (Friday)
Went last min shopping @ Platinum Mall.
Was frustrated coz didn't buy much the past few days.
So simply bought stuff on that day :D

Didn't get to eat our HUGE apple that we bought from Foodland the other day. It was spoilt already and we were rushing for time :(

SuvarnabhumiAirport

Claimed back our VAT from the airport.
Bloody hell admin fee 100Baht.

On the plane back to M'sia

2nd January 2010 (Saturday)

Chicken rice from Shuang Siew down the road from O&S.

3rd January 2010 (Sunday)

It was so misty that night, and cooling.
Went up there just to eat McD ice-cream, nuggets, Spicy Chicken McDeluxe, and fries.
But the trip was worth it :)

HQ's mom marinated chicken wings, while we went to buy Sate Kajang from DU, which finished so fast -_-

Hehehee. :)

6th January 2010 (Wednesday)

Waah all 3 donuts were gooooood

Suggested this place coz it was in HQ's and my 40 list of to-do-things when he came back.

The best 'San Pui Kai' ever!
